Did you know that less than 1/3 of students indeed graduate college who start college at a public college will graduate within the next 6 years? However, did you also know that sometimes never really the student's full fault? Some students may not have the intention of graduating from college, they're just there for the fun. While students don't have the work ethic like other students. Also, some students get hit with life events that college would be hard for them to focus on at the time. There's no singular reason that students don't graduate within 6 years.
When someone says "Less than 1/3 of students graduate within 6 years of college" they still come to the rationale that students fail and don't work to graduate towards their degree. Yes, that's a common factor but some students have important events in life that they cant attend college at the time. For example, my sister had a child while she was in college. She couldn't attend college and take care of the baby. At that time she was young so she couldn't handle the amount of weight on her plate. Therefore there are reasons why some students don't graduate within those 6 years of college.
Another example would be that students don't even have the intention of graduating from college in the first place. What I'm supposing is that students may just be at college because of expectations from their parents. My cousin had the same problem when she went to college because her parents wanted her to go, but after she bombed the first semester she decided to wait and get a full-time job instead. That shows that many students after the first semester usually come to the decision that college isn't really for them. The pressure could also get to them to join which just makes them drop out instantaneously.
Those are just a few examples of why only 1/3 graduate from college within 6 years. There are many more reasons that struck, that it couldn't be only the work ethic while attending college.
